The NC NOW PAC was established in the 1980’s to get more women elected to state office. There was a true crisis of representation at that time, with few, if any, women in state elected office. Today those numbers are better but still far from parity, and so we persist!
Men as well as women may be endorsed by the NC NOW PAC. The primary driver remains finding candidates who are rock-solid on NOW’s six core issues (in no specific order, they’re ALL crucial and interrelated):
- Reproductive Rights
- Ending Violence Against Women
- Economic Justice
- LGBTQIA+ Rights
- Ending Racism
- Constitutional Equality (the Equal Rights Amendment)
Since the Citizens United v Federal Election Commission case was decided more than a decade ago, corporations and dark money PACs have been free to flood elections with unlimited donations, drowning out the campaigns of new and minority candidates. This is the playing field our candidates are facing, even those for NC General Assembly seats. We are raising funds to help our endorsed candidates as much as we can!
Our goal for the 2024 General Election is to raise at least $10,000 to help our endorsed candidates win their races. Help us get there with your contribution!
